JACK HOBBS Obituary

April 30, 1943 - Oct. 6, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY Jack Douglas Hobbs, 74, passed away, surrounded by family, on Oct. 6, 2017. Jack was predeceased by parents, Jack & Jean Hobbs. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Susan; his three children, Sean (Mindy) Hobbs, Stacey (Chris) Lemanski, and Carrie (Chris) Arnold; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Barbara (Roger) Smith, Joan (Gary) Welch, and Karen (Jon) Bryant. Jack was born in Corvallis, OR and spent the majority of his life in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Classen High School in 1961, where he played football, ran track, and set several state records. Upon graduation, Jack enrolled at his beloved University of Oklahoma, where he pledged Sigma Chi fraternity. Sigma Chi was an integral part of Jack's life, where he made many lifelong friends. Jack served in the National Guard, was a master salesman and was such a people person that, upon retirement, he continued to work. Jack enjoyed watching OU play every fall Saturday and even coined the "Sooner Strut" - a dance move faithfully taught to his children (He claimed it helped the Sooners win). Services will be held at Memorial Park, 13313 N. Kelley (located on the west side of Kelley), Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at 10 a.m.
