When insurgent fighting erupted in Fallujah a year ago, James C. Edge thanked the Iraqi troops who volunteered for joint patrols. "It's a testament to your will and character, wanting to make Fallujah a better place," he said. One of the Iraqis murmured back, "Inshallah," Arabic for "God willing." Edge, 31, of Virginia Beach, Va., was killed April 14 by small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. He was based at Camp Pendleton. Edge, known as Jamie to his family, leaves behind his wife, Krissy, and two daughters, ages 3 and 6. The former Eagle Scout played football and soccer and wrestled in high school, where he was "always with a smile, always a neat kid, always pleasant," said Elizabeth Norton, a math teacher. He joined the Marine Reserves in 1993 before entering Virginia Military Institute. He earned a degree in international studies and graduated a second lieutenant in 1996. "I love my son and wish all the other fathers in America could experience a son like Jamie _ I did and I am blessed," said his father, James Edge.

Not sure what to say?

My only grandchild, James, is named after James C. Edge.

I met Mr. Edge at VMI when I was a "rat" and he a cadre instructor. Although its been over 25 years, with events and faces fading, my memories of Jamie stand out. From the moment I met him, he exuded the ideal leadership qualities you would expect from a seasoned officer. He commanded respect by the most noble of ways - his actions. I will forever remember his raspy voice and prominent chin. He is missed, and my prayers go out to his family.

We continue to remember Captain James C. Edge in our prayers. James stands beside God, completely understanding all of His Mysterious Ways. James is at Peace, knowing he gave the ultimate sacrifice. ///, salute

It's been 11 years and I will always remember you Jamie. Not just the sacrifice for our country but the friend. You will never be forgotten!

Captain James E. Edge, Sir ///, (salute)... Your family misses your presence in their lives; however, you ARE by their side every time one of them thinks of you. God granted you the angelic mystery of being able to do so. YOU are our Hero, who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Till we meet in Heaven, we will never forget you!

April 14, 2015 marks 10years that you've been gone from our midst. As I stood at your grave in Section 60, I was struck by the loss & heartache of so many families. I miss you so much, Jamie. May you rest in peace, my son. You'll never be forgotten. Semper Fi.

James continues to watch over you, as God promised. Keep your faith!

We miss you everyday that you have been away from life but we know you live on in happiness as our guardian angel. God Bless your family and may eternal happiness forever be with you. Semper Fi!

I stood over your grave in Arlington Cemetery on Palm Sunday & laid daffodils at your head to commemorate the 9th year of your call from the battlefield on 4-14-05. You are missed & remain forever young in our memory. You touched the lives of many & have left a legacy of love & honor for God, Country, the Corps & Family. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. I Love you, Jamie, my son. RIP & Semper Fi.
