Clymer Funeral Home Cremations - Palm Coast Obituary

James M. Finneran, M.D., OB/GYN

Born 1931 in Worcester, MA, son of the late Edward H. Finneran and Catherine C. Statz.  Dr. Finneran died at home August 5, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL.  He is survived by his sister, Ann, brother, William, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Dr. Finneran devoted his professional career to the health and well-being of women and their babies.  He received his medical degree at Loyola University and completed residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago.  He married his high school sweetheart, Caroline, in Wilmette, IL in 1953 and obtained his Illinois Licensed Physician and Surgeon certificate in 1957. James and Caroline had four children - Michael, Patricia, Kathleen, and James Jr. - from 1954 to 1961.  James and Caroline divorced in 1968; Caroline passed away in 2009.

Dr. Finneran met, then married Jo Anne Credaire in 1973, a nurse anesthetist, while both worked at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan.  Their shared medical background created a lasting bond.

As a board-certified OB/GYN, Dr. Finneran’s long medical career spanned Waukegan IL, Lake Forest IL, and Minocqua WI.

Dr. Finneran served in the USAF Medical Corps at Andrews Air Force base hospital in Maryland as an OB/GYN specialist.  As a Captain in the USAF, Dr. Finneran now joins his departed wife, Jo Anne, at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice and Palliative Care, communityhospital.com.

The family of Dr. Finneran entrusted the arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
