James Garland, age 69, of Strunk, Kentucky passed from this life on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset.
He was born on May 22, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Roscoe Garland and Jenny Sperando Garland. James was a hard-working man and spent most of his career in the manufacturing industry. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and received commendations and medals for his dedicated gallantry. He had a genuine passion and enjoyed motorcycle riding and was a member of the Centurion Biker’s Club. Perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons; James (Kim) Garland and Cheyne Garland of Toledo, Ohio and daughters; Tracey Garland of St. Petersburg, Florida and Rachel “Shelly” Garland of Toledo, Ohio, a brother Steven Garland of Strunk, Kentucky and two grandchildren; Zoe Howes a James Markland as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for a later date.
