James E. Garvey, 81, of Vermilion, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness. James was born December 31, 1935 in Scranton, PA and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 41 years moving from Lima. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving as an Aviation Electrician 1st class. James worked for Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake as an Electrician for 42 years retiring in 2003. He had attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion and St. Peter Catholic Church, Huron. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially enjoyed golfing and cheering on the Red Sox. He is survived by his sons, Rick (Jill) Garvey of Vermilion, Bob (Kathy) Garvey of Vermilion, and James (Melinda ) Garvey of Woodbridge, VA; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Joanie Costanza of Scranton, PA and Peggy Reese of Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann Marie Garvey (nee Sumski); daughter, Elaine Schnieder; parents, James F. and Helen (nee Anglin) Garvey; and his sister, Mary Marciniak.
