In Loving Memory of James (Jim) Jeremiah Sceviour
With broken hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, James (Jim) Jeremiah Sceviour, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at the age of 55.
Born on May 4, 1970, Jim lived a life defined by love, strength, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. He was a man of quiet integrity, known for his hard work, generous spirit, and the warmth he brought to every life he touched.
Predeceased by his parents: James and Helen (Brown) Sceviour, and niece Gabrielle Faith.
Jim leaves behind a large and loving family who were blessed to share in his journey. He will be forever missed by his best friend and devoted wife, Mariette (Holly); his cherished daughters: Ashley (Brad) and Kayley (Lucas); his treasured grandchildren: Christopher, Lilly, Ellie, Devon, and Nash; his brothers: Gerald (Laura), Edward (Andrea), Phonse, and Gary (Raylene); his sisters: Anne Marie (Gordon), Mary (Rob), and Kayla; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Wayne and Mary; his brothers-in law and sisters-in-law: Wayne (Janice), and Melinda (Gerald); his nieces and nephews: Matthew, Christopher, Katelynn, Madison, Declan, Braxton, special niece and nephew Paris and Cole; and his loyal companion, his cat “Red.” He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family, friends, and colleagues who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Jim met the love of his life, Mariette, in 2001, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in love, laughter, and mutual respect. They were married in 2017, surrounded by family and friends, and together raised two incredible daughters, showing them what true love and partnership look like.
A man of remarkable work ethic, Jim dedicated 29 years to the Willows Golf Course, where his care and craftsmanship helped shape it into one of the region’s premier courses. He was also a talented carpenter, always willing to lend a hand—even after a long day’s work—demonstrating his tireless dedication and generosity.
In 2007, Jim joined the Colliers Volunteer Fire Department, and just three years later, he was named Fire Chief—a role he held with pride and honor until his passing. His leadership, courage, and compassion earned him the deep respect of his fellow firefighters. One of his proudest moments was serving alongside his daughter Kayley, who followed in his footsteps to join the department.
Jim had a deep love for country music, especially the songs of Smiley Bates. Saturday nights often found him enjoying the Cabin Party, sharing stories, breaking into a jig, and filling the room with laughter and joy. He was a gifted storyteller, always ready with a yarn or a joke, and his presence could light up any room.
To know Jim was to love him. His kindness, humility, and strength left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Many have said he was one of the finest men they ever knew, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
Though we grieve his loss deeply, we are forever grateful for the memories he gave us—the laughter, the lessons, the love. Jim’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
