Not sure what to say?

"Gentleman Jim". We enjoyed meeting him with other retired judges on Tuesdays for many years.
We truly miss him.

I had the privilege of being one of "Judge's" caregivers. I met him through his daughter Laurel who has two beautiful sets of twins. I was their nanny while going to nursing school. He was the most loving, happy and positive person. He always had a smile on his face and loved to laugh. A strong Christian man-he taught me so much about the true meaning of life. He loved to listen to gospel music, keep updated with the news, read the newspaper and be outdoors. Caring for him was truly...

I feel I grew up knowing the Lenfestey name. My mother, Margaret Townsend Woodland, was a classmate at Plant High school and also church secretary at 1st Pres. She often commented on Jim and times that she would see him or see someone that belonged to that Plant High "group". She always spoke highly of him and felt honored that he was a friend. My mom and dad both were Tampa natives. To the family, may you find peace with all the treasured memories you have of such a fine and...

Shortly after I became a lawyer, Jim Lenfesty was elected to the Circuit Court. I was always inspired by his courtley manner & his prompt fair dispensing of justice. Jim was warm & welcoming when I became a circuit judge; he made me feel "at home" & we became friends. Tampa's legal community is a better place because of Judge Lenfesty whom we all held in high regard & with much affection

Our thoughts and prayers go with the family in your sorrow in the death of James A. Lenfestey. Remember him with Love, Laughter, and Joy!
[Winter Haven High School friend of Laurel.}

Judge Lenfestey always reminded me of Abe Lincoln - tall, craggy, smart, wise, funny and good without ever being righteous. They both gave so much to the world they lived in … As a teenager, coming by the house, he was one of the few adults that stopped to take it all in and always with a sense of humor. A good solider who fought for what was good and right, he held his own true north. You don't meet many people like him. I'm better for having known him. We'll all miss him and feel the...

As a retired Law Enforcement Officer, I could not imagine a more kind, professional, and endearing man. I can't recall the number of times we woke him up in the middle of the night to sign a search warrant. Thirty Five years ago he preformed the marriage of my wife and I in his living room. His wonderful wife was always so patient with our late night visits. My wife and I have always had the fondest memories of him. He was a wonderful person. May he rest in peace.

Jim always made a point of putting family first, even extended family. He was a great mentor and friend to me and helped in many ways. He is certainly going to be missed.

Honorable James A. Lenfestey was one of the kindess person I have ever known. He was a real credit to our law profession. He will be missed by many friends and family. God Bless his memory.
