Seale Funeral Service, Inc. Obituary

James David Miley, Our loved one was called home June 21, 2011 after a month long hospital stay with pneumonia. God gave me a Christian husband, friend and a wonderful father. While he lived, he labored in God's vineyard and although we will miss him greatly, we can hear those great words found in Matthew 25:21, "Well done thy good and faithful servant." He enjoyed playing his guitar and singiing of God's wonderful love.
James was 85 years old and attended Independence High School. He was ordained as a Deacon on December 1, 1953 and served in that capacity in several Baptist churches. He was a master of varied occupations including owning a dairy with his brother Bruce. His time as parts manager, service manager, and salesman at Brignac Dodge afforded him the opportunity to make many friends. He also loved working in his shop making crafts and furniture.
He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Erwin Miley; son, Jimmy Miley; daughter, Jean Miley; granddaughters, Shelly Guernsey and husband Kevin, Donna Garcia and husband Richard; two great-grandchildren, Luke Guernsey and Madison Garcia; brother, Bruce Miley and wife Theresa; sister, Arline Basso and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Gladys Benton Miley; brothers, Charles and Clarence Miley; daughter-in-law, Sara Miley and great-granddaughter, Isabella Garcia. He was a member of Don Avenue Baptist Church in Denham Springs.
