Not sure what to say?

It seems like I have known Jim forever. At Ohio State he was Bill Poland's last oboe student and I was Bill's first.

When in Ohio to visit my Mother, I would often stop to see Jim in Findlay. Always a fun evening with duets and a great meal.

We rode together to many IDRS conventions.

Jim played so beautifully and was so willing to share his vast knowledge. I will miss you, Jim, and can't believe that I will never receive another phone call or...

The Elmhurst Symphony will miss Jim's presence and musicianship. He was a pleasure to have in the orchestra.

Jim was a good email friend and a fun-loving, great guy. We met at IDRS Tallahassee and had remained email friends, sharing jokes and shop talk.

We did speak by phone when I spent some time in Iowa in 2000/1. He very kindly gave lessons to a young girl who was in hospital in the Chicago area for a long period for spinal surgery. It helped her morale and that of her mother.

Jim's death is such a loss - he always had a word of encouragement for fellow musicians and was eager to share his love of music. This past summer at JMOC, he took the time to play duets with another friend, unsolicited, using an oboe d'amore I was thinking of buying. If I had any doubts about the purchase, his helpful remarks and the music they made allayed them. It will always remind me of Jim. I am grateful for his friendship and will miss him.

I'm sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a special part of the scene at John Mack Oboe Camp. He will be missed!

I was saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He was an inspiration to hear and to associate with at JMOC for many years. One of the truly "good guys" is gone.

Jim was a good cousin to have around as a youngster. I will miss him at the family reunions and am so very glad we got to visit this past July 31th.

JIM AND I PLAYED TOGETHER IN THE SKOKIE SYMPHONY. SITTING NEXT TO HIM AND PLAYING WITH HIM WAS A DELIGHT, I LEARNED MUCH FROM HIM. I WILL MISS HIM.
