Jim Rancilio was a great man. It's as simple as that. He cared about those around him. It's rare to see someone of his caliber stay in a small community and breathe life into it such as he did. His professionalism is usually lost to bigger libraries in larger cities. Vassar was a better place to live because of programs and grant monies he worked tirelessly to produce. Thank you Jim for being a friend, and most importantly, showing me an example of how to live my own life for the betterment...

He left a legacy in Vassar that goes beyond the additions to the physical building of the library. With his vision and quiet strength, he brought the thought of a library as a center of the community to life.
