Dad and I in 1976

Thank you for all the kind words. Truly, my dad was an amazing man and the best dad in the world. I miss him more than I can express.

Ruth Ann and Family: I add to your great loss my own personal loss of a dear friend and buddy. It was natural to meet Jim and Ed at Williamson Road Pharmacy very soon after they took over there, for my medical office was only a block and a half away. Jim became particularly endeared to me through his intensely competitive spirit in sports and games. Every Wednesday afternoon we shared a half day off and would fill it with bowling, tennis, ping pong, golf, or even hangman, checkers or...

Jim Roberts was an icon—a legend. When I would be traveling and needed a drug store, or just went into a different one in Roanoke, especially the “mom and pop” drug stores, I always ended up comparing them to Williamson Road Pharmacy and they never lived up to it. As busy as he stayed, Jim always went out of his way to greet everyone by name when they came in his pharmacy. I remember many years ago when the little local newspaper for Williamson Road ran a story on Jim and I read that he...

He left behind a wonderful legacy of what life & family is really all about, It's all about Jesus and glorifying HIM with your life. That is what Jim was about and his wonderful...

Ruth Ann, Sharon and Marcie:
I am still in shock over the news of Jim's passing, having just called you at
the house last week. We'd gone to visit
Rose's brother's family and I'd asked Don Shields to check on Jim's condition. I grew up at the Pharmacy,
thanks to Mom always using Jim's advice
for her prescriptions, and stopping at
the fountain for something good. You
and the girls would show up and it was
more like "Mayberry" than a...

Mrs. Roberts and Girls..I was very saddened to learn of Mr Roberts passing! I have known your precious family all my life, from the times when we were neighbors (our backyards on Hurst and Christian) through my 58 years having Jim as our family's pharmacist! He always had a smile and a hug and as I became an adult we continued to come across town to see Jim and have our prescriptions filled. Jim was particularly special when I became a Mom as he would field my long distance calls when I...
