Deepest sympathy to the Ruege family. One of our high school football "heroes"! So happy he rose above his meager beginnings and experienced a much happier life than any of the rest of his family. May God give you the comfort you need during this difficult time.

How news of this death saddens me. Jim and I were best friends while growing up in Pittsburgh, doing so many things together. We met in the 1st grade (age 6), became the best of friends in 5th grade (age 10), and always remained that way (even as we went to different high schools), doing so many things together, whether playing softball, going to Pirates games, later collecting classical records & going to concerts.....well, way far too many things than can be listed here. It could go...

Due to health problems we are unable to attend calling hours/funeral. Our deepest sympathy on your loss. Enjoyed working with Jim and having breakfast with him on Thursdays at Tee Jays.

I am deeply saddened by Jim's passing. I cheered fieldside as he played football at Perry High School, shared his love of history...and he KNEW his history! Probably the only guy in our German class, or the 10th grade!, to know what the Hanseatic League was. He was a gentle, fun-loving soul. I loved catching up at reunions. Since we both taught, we had lots of 'war stories'. His were always funnier. My heart goes out to his entire family at their/our great loss.

I'm sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I grew up next to Jim on Hawkins Ave. in Pittsburgh. Jim always had an interesting way of looking at the world, and a sly wit. An early memory is of Jim wearing his father Charlie's fedora and tie, pretending to 'Boston Blackie' who was a television detective around 1953. Mr. Ruege inspired me to become a teacher. I was far from a good student. In fact, I was thrown out of high school. However, I always loved Ruege's class.
