JAMES ARTHUR SAMPSON 1933 – 2017 James Arthur Sampson age 84 of Plattsmouth, NE peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 15, 1933 to Arthur and Charlotte Delores (Porter) Sampson in Murray, NE. James was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth and he attended Plattsmouth High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for two years at Fort Riley in Kansas. He met and later married the love of his life, Mary Patricia Dietl on November 26, 1957 in Glenwood, IA. James had worked for Lyman Richey Sand and Gravel as a dredge operator until he retired after thirty three years of employment. James was a member of Hugh J. Kerns American Legion Post #56 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #365 both of Plattsmouth. He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years: Mary Sampson of Plattsmouth, NE; son: William "Bill" Sampson and wife Sandy of Plattsmouth, NE; two daughters: Cyndi Benson and husband Larry of Bellevue, NE; Beverly Ervin and husband Daryl of Weeping Water, NE; five grandchildren: Randy Norris, Brian Norris and wife Jenn, Amanda Grimes and husband Chris, Stephanie Rogers and husband Curt, Joey Scott and wife Sarah; ten great grandchildren; sister: Alma "Bert" Seydlitz of Plattsmouth, NE; brother: Richard "Dick" Sampson of Plattsmouth, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Charlotte Sampson and his brother: Thomas Sampson. Visitations will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M., with family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Roby Funeral Home in Plattsmouth. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Roby Funeral Home with Pastor Michael McGregor officiating. Pallbearers will be Amanda Grimes, Chris Grimes, Mason Grimes, Brian Norris, Randy Norris, Curt Rogers, Kaden Rogers, and Joey Scott. The Honorary Pallbearers will be James's great grandchildren. Military Rites will be conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard, Military Funeral Honor Guard. His Final Resting Place will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Plattsmouth.
