SPARKS, James Paul James Paul Sparks, (Jim, Jimmy, BB), was born on February 29, 1952 in Dallas, Texas as the first child of Joan Simmons Sparks (McIntyre) and James (Jim) Earl Sparks. After over a year of a gigantically valiant battle with lung cancer, Jimmy had the ultimate victory of...

Not sure what to say?

Jimmy gave me my first job out of college. He hardly knew me, but because he was loyal to his family, he helped me out. And like many others, I was intimidated by him at first, even though we were related, but the more I got to know him, it just became funny to watch others be afraid of him, knowing how kind he really was. Even after leaving the job, he was still interested in helping me out. He was a good man and it was a pleasure to know him and call him family.

I was saddened to hear of Jimmy's passing; I was the lead singer and a guitar player in the band Jimmy and I formed. We first met at O'Henry Jr. High in 1965 and by 1969, our senior year, I considered him to be my best friend. We went everywhere together in my Mustang convertible - we had the world by the tale and life was good and having Jimmy as a friend, his genuine warmth and goodness, made life just a little bit better. Rest in peace, my friend; I pray we meet again soon.

Wow. Took this hard. Great memories from the classroom and football field at O.Henry, later at Austin High. Tough competitor and great friend to all who knew him. That smile was legendary. Condolences to the family and prayers for peace in your hearts.

Joan What a blessing it must have been to be able to have such an amazing son. I only knew him from the time he was born until you moved away and we moved away from Rockwall. My prayers are with you and the family.Love,

We will miss Jimmy Sparks! R.I.P.

I am very sorry for your loss. Jimmy and I had a great childhood playing football, music and were roommates at CTC one semester after a fantastic first year at Westlake. Condolences to all the family.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Jimmy while at GlobalTec Solutions in Addison, Texas. What was written about him was absolutely correct about being "fiercely loyal, totally dedicated, work ethic of the highest standard, fun, funny and serious all in the same stroke." I'll go one step further. The biggest thing that stands out in my mind, other than what was described above, was that, in my mind and heart, he was the absolute backbone of that company. Although it was common...

To the family, please accept my sincere condolences on this sad day. I knew Jimmy at Casis and O Henry. He was a straight shooter and respected by everyone.

Fifty years ago this month, my family moved to Austin. Jimmy Sparks was one of the first people I met at O'Henry Junior High. I will never forget finding a friend at my new school, and Jimmy was a great friend to have found. We remained close after he was sent to Westlake High for his senior year. I am sorry for your loss and I am feeling one myself.
