Jim was an inspiration to all who heard him speak. He had a gift of taking complicated topics and making them fun and approachable. He will be sorely missed.

You have my greatest sympathies in the lose of Jim. He was everything I aspire to be as a software developer: wise, humble, and enthusiastic. Though I only met him a few times, he always remembered who I was, making me feel valued and welcomed. I will honor his memory by doing the same for others.

I loved hearing Jim's presentations at many ruby and rails conferences I attended. I think it's fair to say that he was my favorite presenter. I always learned a lot from him. He was a very bright developer, and an even better teacher. I was honored to meet him in person, and very taken by his humility and kindness. He has done SOOO much for the ruby and rails community. I'd like to leave you with one in particular. Last year, I was asked to give a presentation to teenage homeschooled kids...
