BAKERSFIELD – James M. Westcom Jr., age 75, passed away Monday morning April 24, 2006 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born in Belvidere on September 1, 1930 the son of the late James M. Westcom Sr. & Lillian (Shepard) Westcom.
Jim was a resident of Bakersfield most of his life and growing up attended the Bakersfield North School. He was employed as a truck driver for E.S. Read in East Fairfield, Swanton Packing Co. and finally at McDermott’s Trucking in Enosburg Falls retiring in 1985. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge # 63 in Enosburg Falls, Missisquoi Valley Sportsman Club and played in the American Legion Post # 42 Cribbage League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards and cribbage, coaching minor & little league baseball when his kids were growing up and more recently spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Sayers) Westcom of Bakersfield, they were married September 7, 1957; his children and their families, Kelton Westcom his wife Sherry their children, James L. & Danielle of Bakersfield, Stanley Westcom his wife Wendy their children, Lucas, Cameron & Devon of Swanton, David Westcom his wife Katherine their children, Kayla, Alayna & Jaren of Bakersfield, Brian Westcom of Bakersfield, Larry Westcom his wife Brenda their children, Dillan, Zachery, Sawyer & Brooke, Joanne Doane her husband Neil their children, Aaron, Adam, Anna & Aidan of Bakersfield, and Jeffrey Westcom his wife Karen their children, Johnathon, Rebecca & Cassondra of Enosburg; 2 brothers, Harold Westcom and his wife Lynda of East Fairfield, and William Westcom of Hyde Park; his brothers-in-law, Clarence Young and his companion Marlene Williams of Bakersfield, Clarence Willis and his wife Anna of Waterloo, Que., John Willis of Sutton, Que., and Stanley Willis and his wife Carmen of Montreal, Que.; his sisters-in-law, Ruth Westcom of Rutland and Dorothy Reid of Abercorn, Que.; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Kelton Westcom; 4 sisters, Edna Westcom, Gladys Young, Maysil Longe and Arbutus Patterson
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon April 28, 2006 at 2:00 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 until the hour of the funeral.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
