Jan Kalicki Obituary

I first meet Jan on the GSF Grand Banks in Halifax when the GSF was getting ready to be towed to NL. It was through working with Jan and renting him an apartment in NL that we became good friends. I am so sad to hear of his passing, he was a great man, very kind, had a huge heart, intelligent and very respectful to everyone. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have known him. I will always remember Jan with fond and happy memories. I express my condolences to Jan's family and friends, he will be greatly missed.

I first met Jan on the GSF Grand Banks about 8-10 years ago. At that time Jan was working as a steward. One day Jan walked onto the bridge as an electrician was trying to fix an old radar. The electrician was having difficulties with the repairs, and it was then Jan spoke out. He told us he had experience with electronics in the past and asked in his quiet way if he could help... Well Jan fixed the radar, and went on to a position where his talents were used.
I have had the opportunity to work with Jan a number of times since that time and always found him very helpful and extremely kind.
Very sad to hear of his passing. To Jan's family, I wish to express my condolences on your loss.

Wielkie nam poczyniles pustki w sercach naszych tym odejsciem naglym. Niebo jak glaz zimne bylo na wolania i prosby maluczkich.Widac inne plany mialo wzgledem Ciebie.Odpoczywaj w spokoju bo i tak sie spotkamy i wtedy pohulamy

"Trzeba wielu lat by znalezc przyjaciela, wystarczy chwila by go stracic". Jasiu przeznaczenie odebralo Cie zbyt szybko, odszedles cicho i bez pozegnania, ale nie umarles bo zawsze bedziemy o Tobie pamietac. Tak trudno jest zegnac na zawsze kogos, kto jeszcze mógl byc z nami.

Odszedl od nas dobry i bezinteresowny czlowiek. Najlepszy kolega i przyjaciel.
