Jane Gentry Vance

Jane was the first to encourage my love of writing poetry. I admired her very much and knew she would always tell me the truth. I just read of her passing in the Humanities Council magazine.

Lucy and "Tater," I can't tell you how sorry I was to hear of your mom's passing. I admired and liked her so much. My heart goes out to both of you, and I hope you will find comfort in your memories. Jane, may you find joy on your next journey.

Though she will be missed, she will be remembered. Jane's life and work will continue to light the way for students and writers in Kentucky.

I am so sorry Jane is gone; but I know now her struggle is over and she is at peace. I was truly blessed to share a short time of her life and have her as a friend. Thank you Jane; you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I am sorry to hear of Jane's passing. She was a blessing to those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She taught me the joy of poetry in her classes at UK. She was my favorite professor. Jane was a lady in every sense of the word. My condolences to her daughters, grandsons and family.
