Not sure what to say?

Jan was a legend. She was generous, thoughtful and kind. She was a mentor and guide to less experienced reporters. She opened her home and heart to many. Jan was a remarkable woman who knew how to find and have fun. Best memory? Closing down Weber's singing to the Pointer Sisters and going to their concert together 20 years later.

My dear, lovable, stylish, witty, adorable, kind, compassionate, gentle, sweet sister-in-law - I am going to miss you so much. Goodbye.

Patrick, with sympathy of a great friend who I knew for a long time, Jan was a wonderful lady who will be missed. Our thoughts are with you at this time.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jan. We became friends while working together at the Statesman Journal. She was a great reporter and a great lady. I haven't spoken to her lately, but I will remember her with fondness and admiration.

Patrick, Cindy and I enjoyed our visit with you last week in Napa and extend our best regards along with our sympathy in regard to these sobering moments of life. How great it is to go on to having a wonderfully diverse, robust and great life despite having flunked Frances Baribults School of Charm.

Jan was amazing, a giant, an inspiration to journalists ... and others. We all are better for having known her.

I am so sorry to hear about Janet's passing I knew her through her work in the Marion County Clerks office. Our paths crossed other times too. I considered her a special friend and will miss her. My sympathy go out to her family and friends.

Mentor to many; friend to all. An inspiration with a fiery spirit that never will burn out. Breathe deep now and smell the roses, Jan.
