Janet Marie Kerttula

Janet Marie Kerttula, 38 of Groton died May 21, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Janet was born April 17, 1986 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Dennis Patterson and Lynn Chapdelaine Patterson. She married Kenneth L. Kerttula on September 10, 2011, he survives her.

Janet graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

She was the former director of sales for the Providence Bruins prior to advancing her career as the service manager for Shore Appliance in Groton.

Janet loved her daughters and enjoyed life with them.  Spending time with her family and friends was her favorite activity.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.  She had a knack for planning parties and events.  Her attention to detail was evident to the very end.  Janet dealt with her diagnosis and treatments with poise and grace. Her stoic and fearless demeanor was inspiring to all that had the honor of meeting her. 

Besides her beloved husband Kenneth and parents, she is survived by her adored twin daughters Abigail and Grace, stepsons Kenneth Jr. and Peter, sisters Emma and Adelaide Patterson, grandmother Janet Chapdelaine, mother in law Judi Kerttula and many extended family members and many friends like family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday May 29, 2024, from 8:30am to 9:15am. At 9:15am a Moment of Remembrance will be presented which will be followed by the assembling of the procession from the Byles Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames Street on to the 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Groton, 56 Sacred Heart Drive in Groton. Interment will follow at the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.
