Janet-Roth-Obituary

Janet Trutna Roth

Obituary

Roth, Janet Trutna 72, of Victoria and Minneapolis, died June 9, 2007 in Minneapolis. A longtime resident of the Victoria area, Janet had been living in Minneapolis with her daughter Annette while she attended to health problems. She retired two years ago from University of Minnesota food service, where she both enjoyed preparing meals for—and meeting and getting to know—University students. During her twenty-three years of employment with the University she estimated that she prepared literally "hundreds of thousands of meals" for hungry students. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Helen (Hawlish) Trutna; her husband, Emanuel Roth, and her brother, Charles. She is survived by her daughters, Annette (John Clawson) of Minneapolis; Yvonne, and grandchildren Keila, Ramsey, Davon Cook of Eden Prairie; and Ellyn (Todd) Unzicker, and grandsons Riley, Rex and Leyton of Minneapolis; family friend Edward Davis; and several cousins and other family members. Though her retirement was taken up with health care concerns, she never lost interest in or energy for the comings and goings of her beloved grandchildren. She followed their life developments with pride and interest, and made every effort to attend their football games, band and vocal concerts, plays, confirmations and baptisms, piano recitals, school programs—and even babysat Rex and Leyton several days before her death. A memorial service will be conducted in the chapel of Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 W. Broadway, Robbinsdale at 10 AM Saturday, June 16. The Rev. James Martin will be the officiant. A private service of inurnment will take place later at the Czech National Cemetery in Silver Lake, MN.
