Jean Devendorf Obituary
East Lansing
Born February 25, 1916 in Guelph, Ontario, to George Sunley and Beatrice Carter Sunley, passed away November 26, 2016 at the age of 100. Jean retired from Michigan State University in 1977, was a member of Edgewood United Church, and was a lifetime member of The Friends of Historic Meridian. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald (2010) and sister, Ardell Sunley.
She is survived by her children, son, David (Shari) Devendorf; daughter, Susan Shuler; grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Shuler, Kristen (Mark) Kosloski, Scott (Liz) Devendorf and Bryan (Beth) Devendorf; great grandchildren, Alex (Georgia), Nicolas (Hannah), Hannah and Samuel Shuler, Van, Tommy, Kit and Aaden Devendorf; great-great grandchildren, Caden, Aurora, Victoria and Natalie Shuler, and nephew, Norman (Carol) Devendorf.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2016, noon, Edgewood United Church, 469 N. Hagadorn, East Lansing with Rev. Liz Miller officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Jackson.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel.

Jean's 100th party balloons

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news, which I just learned today Jean and Don were excellent neighbors to my parents and I, for many years. My mother, Rose, and I attended her 100 birthday party together. She introduced my family to the artistic music generated by her grandsons before they had become a critical success, causing us to become instant fans. She would've been pleased to know We made rhubarb crisp from her garden last Summer, while I was home visiting; she had always maintained a lovely and bountiful garden. Wishing wonderful memories and much healing to the family for your loss. Love lives on!
