Jeff was a very good friend, someone who was always willing to help even if it was just lending an ear to listen. He never allowed the color of someone's skin to get in the way, if he liked you then he liked you and treated you with respect and I am going to miss him and will cherish fond memories of him. May the family find comfort and peace as they go through the trying times ahead. Amos Jackson

Sadie and Clay.
I just found out from Jane Jenkins about your dad. I'm sorry for your loss.
I enjoyed so many evenings playing at Saratoga's, for many years. It was always great when one of you would get up and sing with me. Your dad was always more than fair to the musicians who worked for him and we all respected him.
Recently, when I would see him he always made sure that I knew what was going on in your lives. He loved you both, very much and was so proud of you.
He was a friend to so many people, including me. He will be missed by me and so many more.
I love you both!

Terri Lynn and Joey: I was so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear brother. I remember all of you from Maggie Elementary. Your family rode horses in those days. Jeff would often wear his horse riding clothes to school. He was always such a leader in his class. During one of my early days of substituting, I was having trouble keeping the class quiet. Jeff tilted his hat back and said, "All right, she means business. Shut up!" And they did. In later years every time I saw Jeff he couldn't help but brag about the accomplishments of Clay and Sadie, his children, who meant so much to him. When I called my brother, Mike, to tell him about Jeff's passing, he was devastated. He said, "I have lost the best friend I ever had." All our thoughts and prayers are with you. My sincere sympathies to all members (Terri, Joey, Sadie and Clay) of Jeff's family. What a great person and a good friend for many years. I knew Jeff all through Junior High and High School. We all skiied together at Cataloochee through those years and I was a lucky girl to go to Prom with him one year. Fond memories. Great story teller and always a smile with good conversation. My heart is heavy for all of you and I have you in my prayers.

Clay and Sadie:
I have known your Dad since he was about 16 years old. I used to love to hear him laugh and tell stories in that slow southern drawl. No one should lose their Dad at such a young age, but you will keep him in your hearts and cherish the good memories. There is no question that he loved you both very much and you both made him so proud.
With love and deepest sympathies,
Miss Shelia
