Colonial Funeral Homes - Brick Obituary

Jeffrey Richards, 54, passed away peacefully at Ocean Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends on September 11, 2022.  He was born in West New York, New Jersey to Tom and Kathy Richards.

He was married to the love of his life, Gael (nee. Sweeney) for 25 years and his greatest joys in life were his two daughters, Molly and Bridget.   He is predeceased by his mother Kathy Richards and survived by his father Tom.   Jeff was a loving brother to Collen Ficken (Chip), Kelli VanNosdall (John) and Tim Richards (Brenda) and 7 loving nieces and nephews.

Jeff knew he wanted to be a firefighter since a very young age.  He started his civil service career as a West New York Police Officer where he served for 7 years.

In April of 1997 his dreams of becoming a firefighter came true where he faithfully served the North Hudson Regional Fire Department until retiring in August 2020.  Jeff also proudly served the Brick community as a Laurelton volunteer firefighter.

He loved spending time with his family, friends and fellow firefighters.   He loved cooking (even though he didn’t do it well).  Jeff will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home, Route 88, Brick, NJ on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 3pm-8pm.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 10:00am (all to meet at the church) at St. Dominic’s R.C. Church,  250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ.
