Jennifer Marie Chavez was born January 29, 1971 in Lansing, Michigan to Lee Limones and Alicia (Chavez) Salazar. Preceded in death by both parents, her beloved Grandmother Evangelina Chavez; her most precious brothers Rene Limones and Anthony Chavez; Uncles Richard Chavez and Raul Chavez; and Aunts Cristina Chavez, Josefina Chavez, and Maria Chavez.
Jennifer departed this life on November 29, 2021, sadly only two months from her 51st birthday. She leaves behind her two children to mourn her; daughter Salma Angelina Sanchez and son Zerrick Daniels Jr. Jennifer is also survived by sisters Sonia Limones, Leticia Limones, Paula (Limones) Guerrero, Michelle (Limones) Pedraza and brother Shawn Limones, uncles Rudy Chavez, Roberto Chavez, cousins Melissa Chavez, Gabriel Chavez, Nicole Chavez, Bianca Chavez, Jason Chavez and Jeremy Chavez, as well as several second cousins, niece's and nephew's, and close friends.
With a laugh and personality that was larger than life, Jennifer was the matriarch, or what her son calls the “Madea” of her family. She was tremendously proud of her two children, Salma and Zerrick. They were always her primary concern and she showed a tremendously strong backbone while raising her kids. They were the most important people in her life and she wasn’t shy about showing it or telling everyone how much joy her kids brought to her life. Her daughter Salma has a strength similar to Jennifer and her son Zerrick is thoughtful and generous, just like his Mom.
Jennifer “Jenny Jen” loved her family fiercely and protectively. She understood the importance of family and always strove to take care of everyone in her circle. From a hot meal to just a phone call, Jennifer let those she cared about know they were important.
Jennifer was s true friend to those she cared about. Generous with her time and always willing to call to check up, she always took the time to reach out and provide support, love and comic relief to her many lifelong friends and acquaintances. She even took the time and energy to always remember the friends she had lost among the way - never letting their memories fade even after their deaths.
Jennifer was so many things to so many people, and she never really realized the impact she had. She was, most importantly, a proud Mother, but she was so much more - a hard worker who made sure her family was provided for, a loyal family member who always had your back, a true friend who always wanted the best for everyone, an animal lover who loved her (deceased) dog, Buddy and her cat, Leonardo. A natural born comedian who kept everyone laughing all the time, a woman with a green-thumb who took great beautiful care of her many plants. Jennifer was loud and brash and so so many more things. We wouldn’t have had her any other way. As her family we are deeply saddened and hurt by her untimely transition.
We are all so fortunate to have been in Jennifer’s life and to have known and loved her. Jennifer Marie Chavez was a true original who loved with all her heart and that is the way she will be remembered.
We know she is celebrating amongst her grandmother, her brothers, and her many other family and friends. While we will miss her with all of our hearts, we take great comfort in the fact that she is with the Lord and one day we will meet again in Heaven.
Her family, alongside her two children, Salma Angelina and Zerrick, wish to thank those that have reached out to offer condolences, assistance, support, a card or even just a kind word during this difficult time. We appreciate you all.
