Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home - Nappanee Obituary

Jennifer Lorane Yoder (52) passed away on February 25, 2017 @ 3:38 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN due to a blood clot in her brain. She was a member at Woodlawn Mennonite Church, Goshen, IN. Aside from her love for her family and friends, Mama's greatest love was her home country of Belize. She was born and raised in the tiny village of Isabella Bank and moved in 1997 to what Belizeans called 'states' (Indiana). However, it was my parents' dream to retire  'back home.' She thoroughly enjoyed finding bargains at garage sales, curing illnesses with cayenne pepper, making soap, and writing down many of her favorite Bible verses. But most of all she enjoyed and celebrated people. Many daily calls were made to family and friends, to check in and make sure everyone was okay. Her house was always open and she provided many meals of delicious rice and beans and recardo chicken and a warm bed to the hundreds that came through her door. Many lovingly referred to her as 'Mama' and 'Miz Jenny.' She never refused to lend a helping hand and was always worried that there wouldn't be enough. Mama's grandchildren benefited from her hugs and home remedies and she always said 'nu worry man, bring de,' even if she already had 2 or more grandchildren running around. She understood that people and being relational were more important than her personal time and convenience.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her father Horace Hulse, her daughter April Yoder, and her granddaughters Amani Cross and Amara Yoder. Jennifer will be greatly missed by her husband, Steven Yoder and her eleven remaining children Teresa (Arseniy) Grechenkov, Gordon (Lauren) Yoder, Eden (Randall) Mast, Hannah (Matt) Yoder, Stevie (Heather) Yoder, Heidi (Jaymi) Cross, Micah Yoder, Brittney (Mahlon) Hershberger, Theodore Yoder, Brianna Yoder, and Esther Yoder. Also surviving are grandsons Aiden Grechenkov, Zane Yoder, Beckman Mast, Augustine Yoder, Sailor Yoder, and granddaughters Adoré Yoder, Sapphire Yoder, and Adaline Grechenkov. Jennifer is also survived by her loving family, her mother Inez Hulse, and her five siblings Zonya (Salas) Hulse, Steve (Bertha) Hulse, David (Marcia) Hulse, Zelah (Laban) Kropf, and Peter Hulse.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm and on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at Fairhaven Mennonite Church The funeral service will be held Thusday at 10 am at Fairhaven Mennonite Church, 13513 State Rt 4, Goshen, IN 46528. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

To Steve and Jenny Yoder family, We're so sorry for the loss of your wife and Mother. Hard adjustments are ahead, but trust God to carry you through. We know from experience what you're going through. Our prayers are with you, -Tim and Laura (Showalter) Conley

I can't believe she is gone...she is one of a kind...Special loving woman...Never to busy to chat a few minutes....never to busy to check up on her friends and family in Isabella Bank, Belize....Condolences to her entire family... As we all continue to mourn her...RIP Jenny..I will miss our Facebook chats..

I loved my friendship with Jenny and I miss the time I won't have now to spend with her. I told her the last time I saw her that I would call her soon and life happened and soon never came. I will treasure the gift of her friendship and I will never forget her.

To all the Yoder family, we send our sincere sympathies! We can feel for you and understand your heartache! 6 months ago we lost our dear mother suddenly n without any warning in an accident. Steven n Jenny n Brianna came along with Labans to my Dads place 2 days after the funeral. That was very nice! We didn't know that would be the last time we would see Jenny. May you feel God's arms around you n carrying you through this valley. You will get through this n God cares about your pain! Love...

To the Yoder Family, We are so sorry to hear about your loss! May God hold you tight! Praying for you!

I loved knowing Jenny. We didn't see each other nearly often enough, but we could always pick up right where we left off... solving all the world's problems and then some. =) So many of my happy memories of Isabella include the Yoder family across the road... I know the months ahead will be full of many many adjustments. Praying that you will feel Jesus walking with you through each day. Love you all and care so much about the pain you are facing.
