Not sure what to say?

Fr. Dittberner awoke in me a love for learning, exploring and 'doing' Theology. He allowed me to live the phrase from Anselm: 'my faith seeks understanding.' Fr. Jerome, the angels have indeed taken you to paradise and joy; we are sad.

I will always be grateful to Fr. Dittberner for helping me look at my faith life as a theologian. Thank you, Jerome

Father Jerome Dittberner was beginning his teaching career, when he taught at Assumption Seminary at Chaska, 1967-69. He introduced young Conventual Franciscan Friars to theology, and he personally enabled me to earn my MA degree in liturgy at Collegeville. God bless you, Fr. Jerome. Fr. John W. Curran, OFM Conv.

I simply recall the dramatic conclusion to Jerome's Eschatology course, when he closed his folder of notes, paused, and, with Fulton Sheenesque flair, quoted Genesis, "He walked with God, and was seen no more, for God took him," and walked from the room.

As a student of Fr. Dittberner, I am grateful for his life, his love of the Church, and his unparalleled intellect.

Fr. Jerome and I attended Saints Peter and Paul Grade School in our home town of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. He was one year behind me. The education we received from the School Sisters of Notre Dame had a profound impact on both of us! Over the years, we'd see and visit with him at a supermarket in Highland Village in St. Paul, and also at the Farmer's Market on the lot at then St. Luke's Church on Summit Avenue. We relished his celebrating Masses at our parish, Nativity of Our Lord in St....

Father Dittberner will be greatly missed here at Sacred Heart Church in Robbinsdale

So sorry I only heard of his passing last night,He used to shop for groceries
at my place of work,He came to the deli would get sandwich meat.I remember him telling he like to listen to the twins baseball games. He was a cool guy once you got to know him.May God welcome him home,Peace be with him.

Humor, wisdom, intellect, passion and healthy tradition. What a loss! Glad to have many one-liners that keep me thinking- in my happy memories. Oremus pro invicem, Jerome.
