Not sure what to say?

It is remarkable that so many people on these pages -- people from many different locations -- were so influenced by Jimmie. Her reach was indeed far and wide, yet somehow she found the time and had the generosity of spirit to be close to so many. Again, truly remarkable. Here's to a life well-lived, and a beloved friend who will be forever missed. I speak for many in saying you are loved.

Dr. Holland had it all: nth-degree intelligence, warmth, caring, curiosity, courage, honesty, loyalty, dedication, empathy, and a great sense of humor. It's hard to imagine being without her because she was the only person I have ever met who shared each of those qualities generously and with humility. She was the person we should all want to be. To her family, who she loved so much, my thoughts go with you.

Jimmie was a mentor, a friend and my inspiration. She believed in me before I even believed in myself and she is the reason why, while being trained by her as a psychologist, I decided to pursue the field of medicine. She was a tremendous force who blended kindness with strength, softness with determination and always did it with dignity, integrity and humanity. I am truly saddened by her loss.

One more!

I wrote below how wonderful my sessions with Dr. Holland was and her colorful, clear eyed view of the world. She's the only doctor I could never fool. Thought you might like to see some pix I took in her office wearing my necklaces I designed as gifts to her.

I will always be grateful for Dr. Holland's kind welcoming spirit and generosity. She gave of herself and her time;she brought grace into this world while reducing suffering. Rest in peace, dear Jimmie.

In honor and celebration of a woman helped so many, and who gave me a dear friend.

I was first a patient, then a good friend of Jimmie Holland, an extraordinary person who changed the world around her. She was generous and always available What an honor it was to know her. We miss you, Jimmie.

I've worked in psycho-oncology research for more than 30 years, and I feel privileged to have talked with Jimmie many times. She was and is an inspiration for many reasons: as a pioneering woman in medicine, as founder of a new field -psycho-oncology - and as an example of someone who remained modest, human, caring, and gracious while at the same time being brilliant, eminent, and visionary. Her legacy will continue to benefit future generations of clinicians, researchers, and patients and...
