Not sure what to say?

Dear Family of Joan, I feel blessed to have shared the Funeral Mass of your mother. Once again I was inspired by the legacy she leaves in all of you. May you be comforted and challenged by her full and vibrant life!

Sister Maria Vincent

My prayers are with all of you as you celebrate Joan's life and share your wonderful memories of her. I will never forget our visit with Joan and Bill one 4th of July when our son, Aaron, was 3. He caught his first fish there (with Walter's help) and still talks about the fireworks and driving the tractor. She made us all feel like family - which we count as an honor.

I was a "damn Yankee" when I met Joan, but she still let me marry her daughter Alice. So many wonderful memories over 18 years. You will be so missed.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mrs Downs was such a delightful and sweet person. I will always remember the graciousness and kindness she and Mr Downs showed not only to me, but my entire family. I hope your time of sadness is short and replaced quickly by the joy of her spirit who is with each of you.

A 2006 visit with Alice, Andrew & Brian

Joan was an exceptional woman with her warmth, intelligence and sense of fun. I always very much enjoyed spending time talking with her up at the cabin or visiting on the porch, where she always made me feel very welcome. Joan and Bill were a wonderful couple and both will be fondly remembered by many whose lives they touched.

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a Mother as special as Joan is not easy and please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. I will miss Joan as much as my own Mother as she always made me feel just part of the family.

How do you put into mere words the life that Joan lived? That's tough to do! She and Bill brought love, fun and so much joy to so many! I will always treasure my times at the "big house" with the combined Terstegge & Downs crew and with Joan right in the middle of all the fun, usually being the ring leader! I love you all ... you were always like a second family to me! Your mom left many "heartprints" behind with her passing! I'm sure she's celebrating in heaven...

After life's joyful moments and some trials, it is our Lord's timing for Joan to meet Jesus face to face. Sadness experienced by those of us still here on earth can be turned into a bitterseet joyous occasion. What a pleasure to have known you, sweet Joan! Love to all, Karen and Bobby Crabtree (Lynn's sister)

Joan and Bill will always hold a special place in my heart. They touched so many people and have left a void in so many lives. I send my sympathy to the entire family who gave me some of my best memories.
