Joan (Jody) Sherer Walstad, aged 89, passed from this life on the 4th of July, 2014, in Houston, Texas. Jody is formerly from Waukesha, Wisconsin, where she was born on the 26th of May, 1925.

She graduated valedictorian of Waukesha High School and Phi Betta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin where she earned a B.A. in Economics. She worked for an investment company in Milwaukee and then for Gould Realty in Galveston. She finished her career as the City Administrator of Jamaica Beach, Galveston, where she took a leadership role in improvements with drainage, water, and sewer. Jody will forever be remembered for her intelligence, love of reading and sports, and gift of conversation.

She is survived by her sister, Jean Woyahn of Waukesha, Wisconsin; her four children, Susan Walstad, Barbara Green, David Walstad and his wife, Robin, and Amy Hepler; six grandchildren, Kristin Green, Lauren Walstad, Tanya Green, Kyle Walstad, Stuart Hepler, and Katherine Hepler; and three great-grandchildren, Leon Galicia, Cameron Morales, and Amri Morales. The family would also like to thank Home Instead Senior Care and hospice for their assistance, with special thanks to Amanda and Deyon.

Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Jody during a reception to be held from three o'clock until half past five o'clock in the afternoon, Saturday, the 12th of July, in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
