Joan Ann (Leopold) Kantor, 88, of Bangor, PA passed away Wednesday, August 7th, at her residence.
Joan was born in Easton, PA on June 26, 1936, a daughter of the late Randolph and Mae (Kowalski) Leopold.
She was the wife of the late James P. Kantor who passed away in 2005. Joan was a 1954 graduate of Bangor High School, a 1958 graduate of the former East Stroudsburg State Teacher's College, and received her Master's Degree in Education from Lehigh University. She was employed as a teacher at various school districts in the Lehigh Valley and substituted at the Bangor Elementary School where she retired in 1998. Joan enjoyed bird watching and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Bangor, PA, where she was a member of the Sodality and the choir.
Joan is survived by a daughter, Linda A. Schiavone, wife of Vito, a son, Kevin J. Kantor, daughter-in-law Kera Kantor, 3 grandchildren Nicholas, Rylie, and Collin, 2 great-grandchildren Gianna and Hayes, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Robert Leopold.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, August 10th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 436 S. 2nd St., Bangor, PA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 10th at Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 314 S. First St., Bangor, PA. Burial will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Upper Mt. Bethel Twp, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception School, 290 W. Babbitt Ave., Pen Argyl, PA 18072.

My deepest condolences to all of her loved ones. Mrs. Kantor was a truly wonderful person who was so caring, considerate, gentle natured, kind and pleasant. She will be deeply missed by many. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Remember Joan well. She sub for me when I had track or x-country meets to attend. There wasn't a sweeter person and a kind heart. The class love her and she did a great job as a sub. May you rest in peace Joan and my condolences to the family.
