Not sure what to say?

Thank you all for your beautiful words and memories. It really means a lot to me to hear such fond memories of my dad, he was an amazing man as long as I knew him and long before I met him for that matter. I would love to hear more of the stories, my email is [email protected] and my cell # is 646-431-3693. Love you pop!

I knew Joe in the Delta Chi fraternity house in Tucson. What a great guy with a laugh that filled the room. He traveled with me to play in a football game that was held every year in my hometown just after Thanksgiving and wore high school pads with my Dad's work coveralls over the pads. When he went out on the field, the opposing team thought he was a professional wrestler and didn't think he had any pads on! I also convinced Joe that I could cut hair and did so for him prior to a sorority...

I am sorry to hear the news about Joe. My heart aches for you/family. I can tell by the obit that he has not changed one bit from when he was a kid at THS with his winning smile and silly jokes (loved 'em). My sincerest sympaty, Penny Hopkins LeGrand. Tucson, AZ

Dear Sydney, Jake, and Duffy,

Your Joe surely had his wonderful qualities dating back to at least the 8th grade, when I met him. I was a newcomer to Tucson midway through the 8th grade in 1957, and by lunch time on my first day of school, I already knew Joe. It was his outgoing warmth and interest in a new face that made the connection. I've never forgotten that! His were qualities worth emulating.

Freshman year at Tucson High found us together in Mrs. Murolo's...

Joe, along with Leonel Bravo convinced me to join the Marine Corps in 1961 at 17 years old. He was admired and loved by me, my mother and father, because he reached out with real love and friendship. Semper Fi! Alex Price

Joe was a great guy. His sparkling personality will be missed. I always enjoyed seeing him at THS.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing.

My heart weeps for your loss.

My day always went better at Tucson High after I bumped into Joe in the hallway going to class. He had some outrageous joke or quip to share with me, and it made high school a lot of fun. I have thought about Joe often over the years, and am so sorry to hear of his passing. I will keep memories of Joe in my heart. --Peg Bowden
