John Francis Bristow

John Francis Bristow of Naples, Florida, passed away on March 2nd, 2019. Jack, to his family and friends, was born to Leo and Frances (Von Eiff) Bristow (Bristovich) on November 8th, 1924 in Bronx, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marion Moran and his son William.
With his initial Training at Camp Hulen, Palacios Texas, John was a member of the US Army serving as a squad leader of an M16 Half Track in the 473rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion of the United States Army Infantry, during WWII. He was part of the force that landed at Utah Beach during the Normandy Invasion under the command of General George Patton in June, 1944. John's Unit also had Battle Participation in England, Northern France, The Rhineland and Central Europe. He was given a Good Conduct Medal for his three years of active service to our Country. When he came home from the war on Christmas Eve 1945, he met his wife Jean, (Jeannie) as he called her, and they were married soon after in September of 1947. Jeannie and John went on to have three children, Linda, John and William. He worked as an Elevator Mechanic and then became a Supervisor for The National Elevator Industry in New York City until he retired in 1989 to the East Coast of Florida. He later settled on the West Coast in Naples in March of 2011. He recently celebrated his 94th birthday and was given an Avow Hospice Salute Ceremony to honor his service in the military.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Robert Volz of Brookfield, CT and a son and daughter-in-law, John and Tracy Bristow of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Dylan and Kyle Bristow; and great-grandchildren James Percy and Curtis Volz.
There will be a memorial service on April 15th at 11:30 AM along with Military Honors at Sarasota National Cemetery where John will be laid to rest.
