A very sad day for those like me, fortunate enough to be taught French language and culture by John, embracing his love for imparting knowledge and enthusiasm. He inspired me to aim higher in studies, life and our shared love of cricket; lunctime net sessions at Lyneham High and as opponents on Saturday afternoons long remembered. LHS 1960 to 1964.
A true Gentleman and kind friend.

Mr Cope was my Latin Teacher at Narrabundah High School in 1963 and 64. John was an inspiring teacher and wonderful person!

He taught me Latin in 1960 at Lyneham High School - a much liked and respected teacher. My condolences to the family - Graham Smith, Uki, NSW

John (Mr Cope !) Was my amazing teacher at Narrabundah High during the 60's for French, Latin and Ancient History. He gave me a love for the classics, but more importantly he introduced me to a Christian Life, for which I am eternally grateful. I thank God for the precious part he played in my life, and I know he will be greatly missed by the family and all who knew him. With love and sympathy,Marion Trevor, Dubbo

My condolences to John's wife and family. John was a wonderful teacher and a great mentor. Roger Le Mesurier.

My sincere condolences to Doreen and family on John's passing. He was a true gentleman and wonderful friend over the short time I knew him. He fought the good fight on the health front and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
