Butch and Gary ,
We are very sorry to hear about John's passing , I sincerely hope that he has joined my Uncle Tommy in GOD's KINGDOM of HEAVEN who recently passed also , John was a gentleman to me when I had met him in the past on family occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving when we generally always made time to meet with different parts of our large family in Farmville when we gather there each year { John Included :) } .
My mother Joyce Wood Edwards , and my Father Les , ...

I also never knew John, however reading about him, I wash I had. grace kahn hitt, born in Richmond, Va, now living in Portland Oregon. God Bless the Family

I never met your loved one, but I wish I had......he certainly sounds like he would have been fun to know and a great friend. Godspeed to him, and condolences to you on the loss of what must be one of the last of the "free spirits" of America. May God bless and keep you all.

To the Cumbey Family ~
I never knew John, but probably someone a little like him. It makes me want to sign his guest book anyway. What a wonderful (in his own way) life he must have lived...hardships and learning. It sounds as though he couldn't beat his old friend, river, and decided to follow its unending flow. May all of your memories enfold and comfort each of you in God's love.
Sincerely,
