John Cushing Obituary

John Joseph Cushing, 61, of Bernardsville, N.J., died on June 15, 2013, at Concord Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Washington, D.C., the son of Mildred (Heath) and Thomas William Cushing.

He graduated from Boston University with a degree in mass communication.

He worked for newspaper organizations on the West and East coasts. He also worked for an international trading company in New Jersey and, for the last 15 years, was a real estate agent for Weichert Company in Bernardsville, N.J.

He was passionate about hockey, favoring the New York Rangers. He was an accomplished carpenter, loved doing crossword puzzles and was a seasoned drummer.

He was predeceased by his wife, Susan McCarthy Cushing, and his brother, William Thomas Cushing.

He is survived by his parents, Mildred and Thomas Cushing of Hopkinton and Hobe Sound, Fla.; a sister, Catherine Cushing of Hopkinton; a brother, David Cushing of Boston; a sister-in-law, Della Spring Cushing of Wellfleet, Mass.; two nephews, Charles Cushing and Nicholas Cushing; and a niece, Emma Cushing.

He will be dearly missed by all.

A service will be held Tuesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord.

Mr & Mrs Cushing and family, I was deeply saddened to learn of John's passing. We were friends through some of the best and worst of times. John was such a kind, loving, humble man and his smile could light up the room. I will always remember him as such a kind and loving friend.
