To the family and friends:
I loved playing with Johnny his oldest son when I was his neighbor.
Mr. Davis was a class act and he loved the water and boating. He loved repairing things and explaining how they worked. I loved visiting the family in Rock Hall MD in the summers. Mr. and Mrs. Davis were so hospitable to me growing up.
We were all blessed to have him around us when we were growing up.
As an example, I recall one time when I broke the large window in their back yard with a foul ball I hit. They were so understanding and kind. I was scared to death.
Anyway, my sincere condolences to Johnny, Patty, Judy and Jimmy.

Sincerely
Richard K. Jackson

We just lost a great teacher, coach, and leader of men. Mr. Davis was Mr. Krebs. He taught gym seven periods a day. He coached football and basketball. I never heard Mr. Davis yell at or demean anyone. He led by example. The students respected him. You attended gym class wearing sneakers, white socks, Krebs gym shorts and white T-shirts. Period. Otherwise you sat in the bleachers and after 3 times you failed. I played quarterback in 9th grade. Our coach, Mr. Davis, led us to a 5-0 season. We beat Salesianum, St. Marks, Mt. Pleasant, A.I. DuPont and Claymont. We outscored our opponents 114-12. Mr. Davis was always dressed smartly, a great role model. I felt the Krebs faculty respected him, sought his advice and strived to achieve his stature. Mr. Davis had a huge effect teaching me to be a mature, respectful, and polite young man.

I have many fond memories of both John Davis and his wife, Helen. He was my teacher at Krebs and my youth group leader during my high school years. Mr. and Mrs. Davis welcomed me into their home and their family. He was a wonderful, Godly man who touched many lives, including mine. I have thought of him over the years and was glad to have reconnected with him for lunch a few years ago.

My thoughts and prayers are with you & your family after the loss of your father. He was such a nice man and I enjoyed growing up sharing our backyard fence with your family. And I'll never forget how he introduced us to the great family times in the summer on Grays Inn Creek outside of Rock Hall, MD. I have very fond memories of those times together.

When I think of Mr. Davis, I can't help but think of what a kind and nice man he was; a truly classy gentleman! I could really tell how much he enjoyed spending quality time with his family. I also enjoyed listening to him tell stories of fun times spent on his boat over the many years. He was they kind of person that made everyone feel better when they were around him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family at this difficult time.

I truly believe that God placed angles on earth as people to guide others to a better way in life. John (Bud)(Dad) is one of those people. He never wavered a day from his Christian values and love of Jesus. He never backed away from reaching out to help another. He touched so many lives in his 91 years here on earth. Mine included, I have to say I am a better person for having been blessed to have him in my life. It saddens me that he will no longer be just a phone call away to give me some words of wisdom, or just to have something funny to say. It was always so comforting. He kept me up on what the whole family was doing, with emails, letters and pictures. He had such a wonderful pride for all of his family. I am happy that he will now be able to rest in peace and be with Helen, who was another one of gods gifts here on earth. Somehow I envision him in heaven happy as can be enjoying one or two of Helen's cookies.

Mr. Davis, you will be missed, especially in church. I sat next to you a couple of times and held you hand during the benediction, but didn't get to know you better. You seemed like a very nice person. May your soul rest in eternal peace until we meet again at the right hand of God. Comfort to the family.

I had the privilege of being a member of the MYF at Peniel Methodist Church in the 1960's when "Mr. Davis" and his wife led the group. They were fantastic leaders of youth and made a huge impression on me as I grew in my Christian faith. They gave their love, time and talents to many of us Conrad High School students for many years. I remember them both fondly.

Well done, faithful servants of the Lord!

To the family of John Davis
Knowing John through church has been an honor. He was a steadfast Christian who always brightened up the pew in which he sat in a quietly dignified way. We will miss him but are comforted to know that we will meet again.
