John Degan Jr. John Degan Jr., age 85, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 11, 2011. Mr. Degan was born February 16, 1925 to John and Pear (Baker) Degan. He married Luella Degan September 17, 1952 in Harrison, Arkansas. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by son James Fisk, brother George Degan and sisters Anna Degan and Elizabeth Merryman. John is survived by sons, John (Vickie) Degan, Salina, Frank (Jan) Degan, and Walter (Virginia) Degan of Topeka; daughters, Pearl Hinton, Carolyn (Milton) Dodds, Wilma (Frank) Lake, Marie Alcala, and Lillian Degan all of Topeka; a sister Shirley Carter of Lawrence; 30 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Wednesday from noon 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home and visitation will be from Thursday from 1:00 2:00 p.m. before the services. Interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities and sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
