John Marvin Dewberry, 100, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, at a Fort Worth hospital.
Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Springtown, 500 N. Main St. Burial: Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 Cedar Hill Road, Duncanville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at White's Funeral Home, Springtown.
The youngest of 11 children, John Marvin Dewberry was born Jan. 26, 1908, in Rosebud, son of the late Christopher Augustus and Jesse Elizabeth Williams Dewberry.
He had been a resident of Springtown since 1975 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Springtown for more than 20 years. Mr. Dewberry loved to travel, enjoyed gardening, and fishing was his hobby.
He was still driving a week prior to his passing.
Marvin married Helen in Duncanville in November 1929.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1984; daughter, Ola Nell Stoker, in 1996; grandson, Jason Dewberry, in 1990; his parents; and all siblings.
Survivors: Sons, Marvin Lee Dewberry and wife, Neva of Oklahoma City, Okla., James E. Dewberry and wife, Janet of Leavenworth, Kan., Wilburn A. Dewberry and wife, Lorna of Hoschton, Ga., Jimmy L. Dewberry and wife, LaRue of Mount Pleasant, Michael S. Dewberry and wife, Wauneice of De Queen, Ark.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family members and friends.
