John was a wonderful person. His two rules on practicing law are equally solid rules to live by: always tell the truth and always keep your word. He was considerate; offering reassurance to us when we were struggling with our decision to leave St. J. ("try it, if you aren't happy in Burlington, come back to St. J"). Ginnie, Peter, Margaret, Tom, we share your loss, and are grateful to have known John. In every way that we knew John he was an exceptional human being.
