Not sure what to say?

Your DC family will not forget you , your grandson or your brother. Keep watching over your daughter and family. Truly missed.

I walked into the Atlanta art of Boxing building in 1998, met Johnny, trained with him and his team of coaches, and loved every minute of it. When I moved back to Seattle in 2009, he referred me to boxing coaches he knew out here. He was a terrific coach, an accomplished man, and a wonderful person. He will be missed by everybody who was blessed to have crossed his path.

Johnny what is the reason I started boxing first and the Golden Gloves and later for the United States Army in which I won several military championship as a heavyweight. He was a true inspiration. That cared for the youth in the city, always here time for his fans he will be truly missed Jeffrey Taylor retired United States Army

Continue to rest in paradise champ. You are truly missed. D.C. will not forget you.

Johnny will be missed. My condolences to the family. Rest up Johnny. The old neighborhood will not forget you we are so proud.

My condolences to the family. After knowing Johnny for a few years through my husband Nathaniel "Buck" Payne we found out that I am a cousin of his on his grandmother's side. We kept in touch from that point as we shared our family history. I will miss talking to him and his surprise visits when he came to D.C. to visit his immediate family. I am praying for you Brenda, Felice and Family may the love of God comfort all of you. Rest In Peace Johnny. Glenda Bigelow Payne

One of the best, rest in peace Champ. Lester Stewart
