Grogan, John M., Sr. Passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2013, at the age of 84. Loving husband for 56 years of Joan Grogan (nee Harmeyer). Dear father of Gretchen (Peter) Donahue, Ellen (Matthew) Carberry, Mark (Steffanie) Grogan, John (Denise) Grogan, Jr., Amy (Charles) Smith, Molly (Sean) Lynch and Maura (Shannon) Neuens. Proud grandfather of 16. Further survived by his siblings and their spouses David (Eleanor) Christensen, Geraldine (Patrick) Grogan, and Margaret (Jerry) Kliebhan; and cousin Lawrence Grogan, Jr. He significantly contributed to the development of the U.S. and State of Wisconsin pension systems from their foundation in the early 1960's. Upon this base, he served numerous companies and religious organizations by developing and managing their employee benefit and pension plans (on behalf of their employees). Moreover, he was a man who loved and took care of so many and who everyone respected and loved in return. Only goodwill surrounded him, which emanated from him. He is remembered for his cheerful and loving spirit to all, (at the home, at the office, on the golf course, at the pub, or at the basketball and baseball games). Family will greet friends on Thursday, July 18 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Feerick Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Catholic Church on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Silver Spring Drive. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in John's name may be made to Marquette High School or University.

Not sure what to say?

I met him in 1942 at St. Rose school, went to Ireland with him 1997. You always knew where you stood with John..condolences to Joan and family. tom durkin

It was an honor to know him. His humor and light will be something I'll always remember; along with the loving banter between himself and Aunt Joan.

I worked with John for many years at A.S. Hansen and Mercer. He was a wonderful mentor and a kind and gracious man. I count it a blessing to have known him. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I know you will see him again.

He was a kind and welcoming man to everyone. Our family always felt loved around him. What a unique and Blessed Gift! He will be missed. God bless to the Family. Love Gerry, Terry and Jake Doherty

My deepest sympathies to your family. I was a classmate of Maura's at St. Monica's and remember John from attending mass there. I will keep you all in my prayers.

So terribly sad to hear of the loss of John Sr. (Always Mr. Grogan to me!) I will miss running into him at Royal Garden. Love to you all.

I can barely type...
I don't any of you. Your father and grandfather was so fond of me and I never knew why. I am a sports photographer who bartended at The Swingin' Door in downtown Milwaukee. He was so fond of my sports photography, and his interest and so many kind words, have no bounds to me and I treasure them...a Smirnoff cocktail to my sweet friend....He spoke often and proud of all of you.

Because we will be out of town, we will only be able to attend in spirit. John was a mentor of mind and a truly kind and compassionate person. I have to believe he is already celebrating the fruits of his great life.

Mr. Grogan was one of my favorite people. We'll keep you all in our prayers. The Daughertys
