John J. Huesdash Sr., 92, of Jeannette, passed away Thursday, Jan.14, 2016, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Leisenring, a son of the late Stephen and Cecelia Linney Huesdash. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy. Prior to retirement, he was employed by GenCorp. as a machinist. John was an avid hunter, fisherman and woodworker. He was a member of Ukrainian Club in Jeannette and the Penn Rod & Gun Club in Penn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret M. Wescott Huesdash; a son, John J. Jr.; a granddaughter, April Odorisio; a son-in-law, Nicholas Odorisio; a sister, Annamary Petko; and three brothers, William, James and Steven Huesdash. John is survived by three daughters; Betty Odorisio, of Jeannette, Patricia Elam, of New York, and Joy Gabris and her husband, Keith, also of Jeannette; a daughter-in-law, Marykay Huesdash, of Donegal; 10 grandchildren, Nicole and Danielle Odorisio, Rashiah and Sabriya Elam, Jonathan and Shawn Huesdash and Adam, Matthew, Christa, Alyssa Gabris; nine great-grandchildren, Xavier, Osiris, Ava, Ayla, Jack, Clara, Hunter, Kennadi and Peighton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Rodney Smalls officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
