MORSE, John R. "Jack" of Bay City, MI and Stuart, FL. Age 80 years. Passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. John was born on December 15, 1928 to the late Clifford and Ethel Morse. He was loved by his family and friends especially his wife, Patricia B. (Holka) Morse who preceded him in death. John and Patricia were married on October 15, 1949 and shared fifty eight years together. Times enjoyed together were spent at their cottage in Glennie and at their home in Stuart, FL. John loved fishing, hunting, scuba diving and riding motorcycles. Together John and Patricia traveled throughout the country. John worked as a Sheriffs Deputy in Bay County from 1960 to 1967. He retired after twenty five years from the Iron Workers Local 25 in 1978. John was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 4194 in Stuart, Florida. John served as commander of the post from 1998 - 1999 and had been a member since 1991. John leaves behind many loved ones including his children: Wendy M. Morse of N. Hollywood, CA, Dan Morse of Bay City, Deb Morse of Bay City, Jackie (Mark) Cygan of Essexville and Sue (Dave) Townsend of Auburn. Also two infant children: Billy and Patti Morse who preceded him in death., eight grandchildren; Dana Lee, Sarah Morse, Patrick Shook, Jayson Shook and Ryan (Nickki) Shook, Kyle Cygan, Shelby Townsend and Breanna Townsend, ten great grandchildren; William and Grace Lee, Benjamin, Hunter, Ella and Brody Morse, Bradley Shook, Morgan Shook, Piper Shook, and Vivian Cygan, brothers and sisters; Clifford (Eileen) Morse, Ronald (Rose) Morse, Delores, Gentle, and Ethel Schmig. Also a brother: William E. Morse who preceded him in death. Brothers and Sisters-in-law; James (Marge) Holka, Donna Holka and Rita Cairns, brothers-in-law; Bill Cairns, Donald Holka and Donald Gentle who preceded him in death. Sister-in law: Rose Michelski who also preceded him in death. The Family would like to extend a special thanks for the care provided by hospice of Mid-Michigan, Brookdale Senior Living Facility of Midland and the loving staff of Golden Horizons Senior Center in Bay City where he enjoyed many days with friends. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Christian Fellowship Church (Amelith and Bay Road) in Bay City. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Benson under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will receive visitors at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the wishes of the family.
