I had the good fortune to have Professor Ranlett as my instructor for Macro and again for Money and Banking. I was good at math and the Professor knew it. One day he asked me a question and after thinking about it for a bit, I answered " I don´t know" upon which he said "thats a good answer". To Professor Ranlett´s family, Found out recently about his passing. I took several courses from him in the late 1970s while working on my Masters in Economics. Due to no small part of his excellent teaching ( and no his classes weren´t easy ) I went on to use much of what I learned from his instruction as a Director for companies like Apple Inc and Williams-Sonoma. My brothers and I has baseball with John growing up around 21st and C and McKinley Park diamonds. He played 1st base and pitched. John was a good player, and a very nice man.
