Not sure what to say?

I was very sad to hear the news of John's passing a few days ago. I met John in the summer before grade 5 and he was my best friend through elementary school. We spent so much time together; John was always thinking up creative activities that we would do. We played basketball outside at Plymouth, walked our dogs (Mosha, then Daisy) in Windsor Creek, kicked field goals progressively farther from the posts, shot targets from hockey nets, went to movies, third beach, skiing on Seymour and...

So sorry to hear John is gone. I fondly remember him as I arrived at Windsor Secondary in grade 11 and got to know him: funny, easy-going and at times mischievous! Granted we were all 17! Fond memories of car rally with him as my navigator! Glad I bumped into him just a few months ago on the North Shore and he was still that same kind and gentle soul as when he was 17. Glad to have known him. RIP John.

My heart is deeply saddened to hear this news. Oh John, you will be missed by many I’m sure. Always smiling and kind, thank you for adding so much heart to this world. Sending you hugs and kisses as you traverse the beauty of this universe. With much love, Bobbi

It has been hard to process this over the last couple of weeks since his passing...the many memories of sweet John Sykes...the friendship, the laughter shared, the deep thoughts ruminated upon together, and a connection as fellow writers. John lives on through the lives he touched, and in my heart and the hearts of many
Much love to you and your family Roberta

So very sorry to hear the news, John was such a nice person. I grew up down the street from John and Roberta. My older brother and John were friends and he always was so nice to me. My condolences to Russ and Roberta, family, and friends.

My condolences to John's family & friends. I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. John and I did not keep in contact over the past couple decades as life changes after graduating from high school. I was fortunate to reconnect with him through Facebook and admired his gift of photography, his passion for the outdoors and nature. Your passing is overcoming. R.I.P John

You will be missed dearly by all of us. Rest easy with your mom up there John.

John and I dated years ago but stayed friendly afterwards for awhile. He was good guy with a tender heart. He could be wickedly funny and had an amazing smile. I'm heartbroken to know that he has passed. Be in peace, Johnny.
