Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home Obituary

John Willie Watts, Jr., 84, companion of Betty Watts, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born August 6, 1934 in Mercer County, KY, John was the son of the late John Willie Watts, Sr. and Mary Frances Curtsinger Watts.


Including his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Charles Watts.


John was a former truck driver for Bowling Transportation in Nicholasville and Sexton Enterprises in Harrodsburg and worked as a farmer. He was a member of the Bohon Christian Church in Mercer County, and an avid NASCAR fan, sports fan especially the University of Kentucky Basketball and Football teams. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and loved keeping his great grandchildren.


Along with his companion Betty, John is survived by two children, Kathy McMurry (finance Randy Maloney) of Ezel, KY and James O. McMurry of Mercer County, KY; two grandchildren, Chasity (Matthew) Snipes and Nicholas Andrew; two great grandchildren, Haleigh and Wyatt Snipes; a special niece and nephew Melissa Santos and Robbie Coker; two sisters Barbara Robinson of Lawrenceburg and Edna Merriman of Mercer County.


Funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 19th beginning at 3:00 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home. Bro. Carl Bush will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 1:30 – 3 PM.


Memorials are suggested to the Anderson County Senior Citizens Center, 160 Township Square, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.
