Dillon-Baxter Funeral Home - Wethersfield Obituary

Jose A. Carrero, III, 66, of Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at home. Jose was born in Anasco, PR and was the son of the late Jose A and Carmen (Aquino) Carrero. Jose better known as Nito was an avid Sports fan with his favorite team being the N.Y. Yankees. In his day he was an astounding athlete, participating in recreational softball, baseball and basketball. His competitive spirit was something amazing to witness.Other hobbies included working on cars which he was passionate about. Nito had a heart of gold. He always helped everyone, sometimes a little too much if his wife was still around she would attest to that. Nito was funny, caring and intelligent. He would tackle any task with no fear, no formal training and had the ability to fix it if it was broken or come up with a solution. This ability earned him the name Mcguyver or J.A.C of all trades. Nito was popular, loved and admired by so many in the city he loved to call home Hartford. An amazing Man, Father, Grandfather, friend and so much more. He will be greatly missed but Never Forgotten.

Jose is survived by his son June a.k.a Junior, daughter Jessica the 1st, Granddaughters Jahnell & Gisele Grandsons KB & Joseph. Sisters Antonia, Evelyn, Marilyn & Sonia brothers Hector, Gary and Alberto nieces Beatriz, Vimari nephews Joey, Javier and all the rest, “preceded in death by.” Wife Elizabeth and brother Emilio.
