Josie Crosby DeMeuse, 81, of Charleston, widow of Francis A. DeMeuse, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013, of natural causes . Josie was born November 13, 1931 in Savannah, GA, a daughter of the late Clifford C. Crosby and Mildred Wall Crosby. She was a retired secretary for the Charleston Country School District.
Josie is survived by her son, Patrick C. (Vicki) DeMeuse, of Ohio; daughter, Patricia D. (Gary) Diamond, of Charleston; son-in-law, Fred Harley, of Charleston; Grandchildren; Kellie Harley, Carl Harley, Jason "Colby" Freeman and Colin Freeman, all of Charleston; sister, Nell Nesmith, of Charleston and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. DeMeuse; daughter, Harriett D. Harley; sons, Matthew S. DeMeuse and Frank H. DeMeuse and brother, Clifford (Pat) Crosby.
Our mother and grandmother was a shining light to our family and her many friends. Josie never met anyone she didn't like or had not fallen in love with her spirit and her uncanny ability to tell a tale that had interwoven redemption and humility. The only thing she ever took credit for was her undying love for her children and family.
The relatives and friends of Josie Crosby DeMeuse are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. Josie's guestbook may be signed at www.jamesamcalister.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 5955 Core Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406 or Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. Arrangements by JAMES A. MCALISTER Funerals & Cremation. 766-1365.

Not sure what to say?

I have wonderful memories of your mother at Alice Birney Middle School. She was a positive role model for the faculty and the children. If G.W. Murray were alive, we would talk about the good times we shared with you mother. I will remember all of you in my prayers. May the blessings of Almighty God be with you.

Patricia and Patrick,
I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a wonderful lady. I enjoyed talking to her when I worked at Blessed Sacrament years ago. I know she will be missed.

Our deepest condolences to the Demuse family.May God be with family in the days ahead.

Sorry for your loss. May the god of comfort be with you.

With my deepest sympathy to the family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May god provide you with comfort in your days ahead.

Please accept our sincere sympathy to your entire family. We are neighbors from Village Green. God Bless.
