Julian Riepe passed away in Seattle, Washington. The obituary was featured in The Seattle Times on January 15, 2011.
Julian was unfathomably kind to me during the time I spent in Seattle in the mid 1980s. He was a good man. I still have the very nice camera that he gave to me.

He changed the trajectory of my life decades ago. First as my professor, and then when he delivered in the offer to help edit if anyone needed it. He labored over my graduate school admission essay ... and I got in despite being among the least experienced applicants. That was 40 years ago and led to the career I still have as a clinical social worker.

Julian will be forever in my thoughts. I have so, so many memories of time spent so fully with this amazing family. You are my family and I love you all so much. Julian was an amazing, giving, brilliant person.....such a bright star seldom shines. I will always be thankful for having had a chance to be part of his life. He gave me so much in so many ways.....I am forever thankful.
